John Thompson III

Thompson took over as the Hoyas head coach during the 1972-73 season. This was a transformation of a team which had finished 323 in the previous year. Under Thompson's leadership, the Hoyas went on to make twenty NCAA tournament appearances and fourteen straight, as well as win six Big East Tournament championships. Thompson's teams were well-known for their hard defense and physical play. The Hoyas also produced Hall of Famer Alonzo Morning and Patrick Ewing.

Peter Wilk was a former professional player and American baseball coach. He was a Rollins College student for Boyd Cooper and the Georgetown Hoyas' coach. He currently manages the Vermont Lake Monsters of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. Wilk was raised in Fort Pierce Florida. After a successful career as a quarterback with the USC Trojans, Bob Schmidt was appointed head football coach at Georgetown University in 1960. Schmidt was already a third-year law student when he was hired. His first game against Frostburg State was set for Nov. 23, but it was cancelled by President Kennedy.
